My name is Ashley Holcman and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and I am here to help. My goal is to create a warm, comfortable, safe environment that will allow you to feel completely at ease to discuss anything that is troubling you. I hope to help alleviate your symptoms, help you identify your strengths, find hope, adjust your thinking, and teach you ways to cope with negative and stressful thoughts and emotions.
I have been working in the counseling field for 9 years with experience working in community mental health centers, in a college setting, hospital settings, and as an outpatient therapist to all ages and populations. The theoretical orientations I use most are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), but I will tailor treatment to meet the purpose and need of each individual. I am also trained/certified in trauma-focused CBT, holistic treatments, and biofeedback. In addition to my experience, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Art and Art History from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Education in Counseling degree from Northern Illinois University. I am also Licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois, as well as a Notional Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
